    Knight: part of Altec?

    Knight (Altec/University)Model KN1200 12" Coaxials / Original cabinets - $195 (14489)
    "Classic Altec/Universisty Co-axials...Great Sounding units!
Vintage Knight (Altec/University) Model KN1200 12" Coaxials w/ Horn tweeters / 16ohms / Original cabinets w/ additional Horn tweeter/mid-range added early to mid 1960's / Made in USA."

So Knight was part of Altec, or this post is stretching it a bit?

Knight/Allied-Radio sold speakers built by others in my limited observation. The ones I've seen/owned have been built by Utah. Thay may very well have sourced some coaxial drivers from University, which was purchased by Altec at some point. Many sellers emphasize the Altec connection with University hardware in an effort to make thier stuff worth more, by association.

They look like Utahs, seller has pics in his CL listing, and is asking 180 there.

Also has them listed on tazlist for 200.

LTV was the company that bought both Altec & University Sound.

Knight was Allied Radio's house brand, so no never part of Altec. Allied was acquired by Radio Shack, later by a UK company Allied Radio is now a Pro electronics distributor.

Curiously it's site says it was originally radio parts distribution arm of Columbia Radio Corporation.

Have seen Jensen Utah, University and EV all branded Knight.

    Thanks all for the discussion.
Yeah, that was the meat of it. i.e. LTV never bought Knight. Good clarification.

    Pretty baskets/magnet covers on them!
